Well "What OS is the best for a server" is a very subjective question. Virtually any OS can be a good server OS; in the end it all comes down to the administrator. You can have the most secure OS in the world but if you have a bad administrator, you'll have a insecure server. If your considering the BSD platform I would actually suggest OpenBSD. In the last eight years there have only been one remote hole found in the default install.

Again though Linux/BSD/*nix/Windows can all be secure platforms if properly administered. In the end it comes down to personal opinion and preference. Personally I am the most comfortable with Linux as a server platform so for my servers I use Slackware Linux. Use whatever platform you feel most comfortable with IMHO.

You can't definitively say one OS is better than the other, it all depends on what the OS in question will be used for. For example Brandon are you going to say that FreeBSD is the best OS for use in a Windows Domain?

In the end we can't say what server OS we think will be the best for "NotLucky" until we know what exactly he will be using the server for (even then you often can't definitively say). So "NotLucky" what will you be serving?

Btw "Brandon" it's odd to give advice to yourself...
