I am trying to set up a home network.i have run the wizard in win XP but when i click on my network places there is nothing there.on the other pc which is running windows 98 i can see the host pc (win XP) but it will not let me access it.it doesn't seem to be setting itself up on the xp machine can anyone help :?

What is the physical topology of the network? Can you ping the win98 machine from the XP machine or vise versa?

If your getting a login prompt when trying to access the XP machine from the 98 machine try entering your username/password for the XP machine and see what happens.

I remeber That You Have To Create A Floppy Disk For Windows 98/95 To Be Linked To Another Computer In Your Case You Have XP Luckily I Hoe Networked A XP To Windows ME And Both Of Them Say At The Last Step To Create A Floppy Disk For 98/95 PM Me For More Info
