outlook express version 6

Postby dr-death » Wed Jul 16, 2008 11:58 pm

ok first up, new to the site, so if this is posted in the wrong forum, sorry.

ok heres my problem
i run xp pro sp3 fully updated
i use oe 6 for email, and have 2 identities, my main works fine.
The trouble is with my second account, i set it up with help from a website admin, who owns a site where i am a moderator and have other duties.
i need to recieve frequent mail containing images from other users of the site and cannot recieve any mail. I get no error message, but it doesnt go through the process of authorising etc, and the account has been verified as working, at the other end.
all the account details have been entered correctly.
sorry i cant give out many details, but this problem first occurred after a complete software rebuild, and downloading sp3.
if anyone has any ideas i will be only too happy to try them.
i can eliminate the firewall, my antivirus, and the other end from the cause.

Are you useing File/Change identity ?
I have 2 in Outlook Express and switch back and forth
with no hassle.Did you give them distinct names ?
Just match your first ones settings ( POP3 ETC)
Or call you ISP to guide you,I had too.

the site and my email are using the same isp
i tried as ya said matching the two accounts details, doesnt work

shall i uninstall outlook and reinstall, then try again
windows live mail and hotmail cannot accept mail from this other email provider

Lets start here. You do mean Outlook Express that comes with Windows ? Not MS Ofice Outlook.
For the record: Outlook Expess has to be configured to first go to your ISP
Then passed on to you.Maybe your only allowed 1 Mailbox.
Thats why the address (billybob@yourserver.com) is an address.
They get it first. It has to be in your account information.

Yes
===================================
Yahoo.com or .ca is a better choice for a special account.
You can even forward yahoo mail to your 1 OEx box automaticly or manually.
==============================================================
But this confusses my whole line of fixes, quote
(because its not a site using the same isp, which is wrong)
the site and my email are using the same isp)
What does that mean ?
You can't Uninstall Windows Outlook Express.
But i don't seem to understand what seems like (Special email Needs)
Forget OEx and i know yahoo will not say a word about 2,maybe more.
But assure me it's not Microsoft Office Outlook.
See attached to confirm. These are my 2 at Rogers.
This can be read anywhere on the Planet.
Missed an important ? re picture
Did someone give it a password ?

yes outlook express, as mentioned in the post title.

my isp is the same as the one that hosts the web site i need to recieve mail from.
tho my isp says they dont, understand now?

my email has been configured to recieve mail from this site PRIOR to a complete software rebuild recently, and getting sp3.

looks like yahoo is my only option.

will someone pls come up with a solution that works and doesnt rely on my installing yahoo

Sorry no one else has been any help, but i honestly
do not understand what your describeing.
My final comment being that you should and can have
better control of your email.
But i don't connect your ISP controlling who, where and what you
send and receive.
You must have one of those cheap ISP"s,but
Theres many sources of opening email accounts
if your connected to the Internet.
Theres more to this then i feel you want to describe.

ok i try to explain again.

i open outlook express 6, my main identity recieves my mail, usually buckets of spam.
i then switch to my second identity, that is for a website/chatroom where i am a moderator in the chat and do photo-analysis for the users

it will not authorise, connect, or download any mails

the mail service has been set up by the admin of the website.

my isp says it wont help because it does not host the website, but the website and my email service are using the same isp.

THIS USED TO WORK BEFORE I HAD TO DO A COMPLETE SOFTWARE REBUILD AND INSTALLED SP3.

So what is going on?

how else am i to explain it, apart from the way i already have.

obviously i am such an idoit that i dont know how to say that my outlook express WILL NOT CONNECT - AUTHORISE - OR DOWNLOAD MY MAIL

what more is there to say than that?

Surely this is to do with the sp3 from microsoft, cos it worked fine before i got sp3

does anyone understand what i am actually saying?
if not i guess i shall have to look for a better place to find a solution

All I can add is,I have OE6 and SP3 and no email problems.
Your other replys aren't being posted for some reason.
Ask your ISP about it.They get it first.

Generally speaking I used Outlook Express and some times ago had a lot of problems with outlook express, there I used-.dbx repair tool, tool is free as how as I remember, utility recovering corrupted Outlook Express folders, extract all messages that should be recovered from the dbx repair file, save all extracted messages to the hard drive as message files in the eml format before a repairing Outlook Express, tool repairing corrupted Outlook Express folders comes down to the process of repairing the corresponding *.dbx files (dbx repair, repairing Outlook Express),recover on the hard drive, on a CD or a DVD or on a flash drive, supports files of the .dbx format for Outlook Express versions 5, 5.5 and 6,repair dbx files of Outlook Express in the batch mode, recovers information from *.dbx files up to 4GB in size.
